Sony MUST fix the PS3

I have decided to write this in the time it takes to update Little Big Planet to version 1.04. Since its release, I have been debating buying Little Big Planet due to several concerns I have about its network infrastructure and level moderation, so I decided to rent it first. It finally arrived today, and following inserting this highly anticipated game into my PS3, I was forced to update to the latest version of the game. I am cool with this, it happens ALL the time with Xbox 360 games and requires a brief moment of my time to allow a brief quick download followed by a quick installation. Updating the PS3 however, is another story. It has been some time since I have even turned on my PS3 mainly because of the pain in the ass it is to update the system firmware (a process that routinely take 10+ minutes). Thus, because it has been so long since I have played my PS3, I of course have to update the system firmware before I can begin playing LBP (in the biz, we call that a vicious cycle). After sucking it up and updating my system to Firmware ver. 2.53, I finally click on LBP with great anticipation...only to discover I have to apply not one, but three patches before I can actually play. While this process is now 88% complete, it has already soured my experience and makes me realize why I prefer my XBOX 360. Sony, YOU MUST FIX THIS. Take a page from the Xbox playbook, make this process FAST! Make this process PAINLESS! And in the words of my good friend Oscar Rogers, JUST FIX IT!

UPDATE: At least Little Big Planet was worth it, wow.

10 minutes? Why don't you look at you internet connection first before you assume that the PS3 is at fault. I've owned a PS3 since launch and the longest am update took was 5 minutes and that way over estimating. I also own a 360 and a Wii and yes the 360 does download and install faster I will give you that. But you gripe about the PS3 taking long to update is just an exaggeration.

Oh and to add. Had you kept up with your PS3's update. You wouldn't be in the predicament your in.

Guy, Guy, Guy,
You have committed the sin of speaking your mind. By suggesting anything remotely negative you have blasphemed the holy Sony name and shall be summarily flamed at stake until you repent of your free thinking ways. And the mere mention of that abomination known as the XBOX 360 in a positive light has surely guaranteed you a place in Hell. Seriously, why do fanboys feel the need to defend a corporate giant like Sony for stating a little displeasure with something they obviously need to fix. Just remember guy, they walk among us. And by the way, what's up with all the mandatory game installs? My hard drives almost full...AGAIN! Oops did I say that out loud?

Jerico, 10 minutes is an estimation, but a fairly accurate one and unfortunately it is not due to my net connection speed which is 10 Mbps. I also own all three consoles and it is safe to say that Sony makes the upgrade process a barrier to playing games. I never feel this way when I turn on my 360 and to be fair, I don't even remember what it feels like to turn on my Wii. I am no fanboy, but it is clear that the PS3 needs to look at what Microsoft has done with iterative updates and copy them. Usually, by the time my PS3 is updated, I am typically playing something else on my 360 already. I think its a real shame too, because there are some great game on the PS3.
